PTSD deserves treatment that moves as fast as you need it to
Whether PTSD stems from military service, an accident, or another traumatic experience, the weight of it doesn’t wait for a treatment calendar. Brain Centers offers accelerated neuromodulation, built on FDA-cleared TMS technology and approached as evidence-informed, individually assessed care for PTSD, without medication, delivered with the discretion and respect this condition deserves.
Built with veterans and active duty in mind, open to everyone
Our team has specific experience with military and first-responder PTSD, and veterans/active-duty service members may qualify for coverage through the VA or TRICARE, ask our team. Civilians experiencing PTSD from any cause are equally welcome.
How it works
- ✓Non-invasive magnetic stimulation targeting the mood- and fear-circuit regions involved in PTSD.
- ✓Accelerated course, as little as one day for qualifying patients, versus weeks of repeat visits.
- ✓No pills, no sedation, no mind-altering drugs. You remain awake and in control throughout every session.
- ✓Private, dignified, judgment-free care in relaxation suites, not a clinical waiting room.
What to expect
Free consult
A free 15-minute call, no pressure.
Telehealth visit
A clinical consultation to confirm fit and personalize your protocol.
In-person treatment
At our San Diego facility, minutes from La Jolla.
What PTSD can look like
Post-traumatic stress disorder can develop after combat, an accident, assault, or any other traumatic experience. It’s not a sign of weakness, it’s the nervous system staying “on alert” long after the danger has passed. Common signs include:
- ✓Intrusive memories, flashbacks, or nightmares related to the event
- ✓Avoiding people, places, or situations that are reminders of it
- ✓Feeling constantly on edge, easily startled, or watching for danger
- ✓Negative shifts in mood, memory, or how you see yourself or others
- ✓Sleep disturbances, irritability, or difficulty concentrating

The fear circuitry TMS aims to rebalance
PTSD is associated with an overactive amygdala, the brain’s alarm center, and underactivity in prefrontal regions that normally help regulate and quiet that alarm response.
Non-invasive stimulation
Magnetic pulses are directed at prefrontal regulatory circuits, the same general category of brain circuitry TMS is used to influence in depression.
Active, growing research
Accelerated TMS for PTSD is a fast-growing area of clinical research. In the U.S. it is not yet an FDA-cleared indication the way Major Depressive Disorder is; our clinical team approaches it as evidence-informed, individually assessed care.
No re-living required
Unlike some trauma therapies, TMS does not require you to describe or relive the traumatic event during treatment sessions.
Safety and side effects
Most people tolerate TMS well. The most common side effects are mild scalp discomfort, headache, or lightheadedness during or shortly after a session, they typically ease quickly. Serious side effects, including seizure, are rare when standard safety screening is followed. There’s no sedation, no medication, and no recovery time.
TMS isn’t right for everyone
TMS is not appropriate for patients with certain metal or electronic implants in or near the head (aneurysm clips, cochlear implants, deep brain stimulators, non-MRI-safe devices) or a personal or family history of seizures. Our telehealth screening is designed to catch this before any in-person visit.
Common questions about TMS for PTSD
Our device is FDA-cleared for adults with Major Depressive Disorder. For PTSD, we apply the same underlying TMS technology as evidence-informed, individually assessed care, not as a claim of FDA clearance for PTSD itself. Our clinical team discusses this distinction with you directly during your telehealth consultation.
Many people we see have overlapping symptoms. Your clinical team reviews your full history during the telehealth consultation and builds a protocol around your specific presentation.
No. TMS sessions don’t require you to describe or relive the traumatic event, you sit comfortably while the treatment is delivered.
