ADHD & Focus Treatment in San Diego

FDA-Cleared Technology · No Mind-Altering Drugs · One Day

Sharper focus, without the medication trade-offs

ADHD medication can help, but for many adults it comes with side effects, tolerance issues, or a ceiling on how much it actually improves day-to-day focus. Brain Centers’ AMPA One Day Protocol offers a non-medication, accelerated neuromodulation approach to the attention and focus circuits involved in ADHD, built on FDA-cleared TMS technology. TMS for ADHD itself is an active area of clinical research rather than a separately FDA-cleared indication; our clinical team applies it as evidence-informed, individually assessed care.

Who this is for

  • ✓Discreet scheduling built around a demanding calendar.
Understanding the condition

What adult ADHD can look like

ADHD in adults often looks different from the childhood stereotype. It’s less about bouncing off the walls and more about a brain that struggles to regulate attention, whichever direction that pulls. Common signs include:

  • ✓Difficulty sustaining focus on tasks that aren’t inherently interesting, even important ones
  • ✓Chronic disorganization, procrastination, or trouble managing time and deadlines
  • ✓Restlessness, impulsivity, or a mind that jumps between thoughts and tasks
  • ✓Forgetfulness with commitments, appointments, or daily responsibilities

FDA clearance, plainly stated

TMS for ADHD is not an FDA-cleared indication at this time, it remains an active area of clinical research. Our device, the AMPA One System, is FDA-cleared for Major Depressive Disorder. For ADHD, our clinical team applies the underlying TMS technology as evidence-informed, individually assessed care, and will walk through this distinction with you directly.

How it works

The attention circuitry TMS aims to influence

Attention and executive function rely heavily on the prefrontal cortex, the same broad region involved in planning, working memory, and impulse control.

Targeted stimulation

Magnetic pulses are directed at prefrontal regions associated with sustained attention and executive control.

Stimulant-free option

For adults who can’t tolerate stimulant side effects, worry about dependency, or simply want a non-medication option, TMS offers an alternative or complement to discuss with your provider.

Condensed schedule

Accelerated protocols compress a full course of stimulation into a tightly managed day rather than weeks of daily visits, appealing to busy professionals and executives.

What to know

Safety and side effects

Most people tolerate TMS well. The most common side effects are mild scalp discomfort, headache, or lightheadedness during or shortly after a session, they typically ease quickly. Serious side effects, including seizure, are rare when standard safety screening is followed. There’s no sedation and no recovery time.

TMS isn’t right for everyone

TMS is not appropriate for patients with certain metal or electronic implants in or near the head (aneurysm clips, cochlear implants, deep brain stimulators, non-MRI-safe devices) or a personal or family history of seizures. Our telehealth screening is designed to catch this before any in-person visit.

ADHD FAQ

Common questions about TMS for ADHD

Not at this time. Our device is FDA-cleared for adults with Major Depressive Disorder. For ADHD, we apply the same underlying TMS technology as evidence-informed, individually assessed care, not as a claim of FDA clearance for ADHD itself. Our clinical team discusses this distinction with you directly during your consultation.

Not necessarily, that’s a decision for you and your prescribing provider. Some people use TMS alongside existing medication, others are looking for a non-medication alternative or a break from stimulants.

Our telehealth consultation covers this directly. Your clinical team will help determine what’s appropriate for you.
